Henry Warren Smith (US1843spouse1) received a letter from Gen. Winfield Scott dated 4 Jun 1839 that you can read here. There is a hole in the letter. This is one of numerous letters offered up on sale on eBay during the February to March 2023 time frame. An attempt to purchase as many of them as possible was made. The seller did have scans of them which were used on the ones that were lost at auction.
