Richard W. Hungerford Sr. took photos just before he left for Vietnam, while he was stationed at Cam Ranh Bay, and on his R&R with his wife Barbara in Japan that are housed here. (Un-numbered photos were taken by a third party as were some of the numbered pictures if he is in the photo.)

This is Lt. Col. Paul Frederick Kiecker. He was a doctor and my father's replacement in Vietnam. Like my father, he would assist in pacifying the rural areas by visiting and giving free health care. Like my father, he would climb into airplanes and visit remote areas. Unlike my father, he didn't come home. On Jun 17, 1967 he and the rest of the passengers on the plane going to some village died from either ground fire or some unknown malfunction of the airplane.
