This note is part of the John Hungerford Arkwright correspondence collection.  This one reads:

Hampton Court, Estate Office, Leominster.  May 23rd 1890

Dear Commander,

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that one of the inmates of the hospital, John Johnson by name has been taken into custody by the police, and he was examined by a Doctor & pronounced insane and therefore has been removed to the asylum, he was in my house just before & nearly frightened me to death I thought that he was going to commit suicide there he was something awful.

I wish to know whether I am to pay his money to any of his family or what am I to do in the matter.

I hope that you and all the family are well..

I remain

Yours truly

James Williams
Corporal
