Mr. Cole wrote John Stanhope Arkwright expressing his condolences for the loss of John's father John Hungerford Arkwright. It says:

My dear Sir.
Col. Corban has just told me of your loss, I lost my Father last November & can indeed sympathize with you in your sad bereavement.
'tis a great, very great loss to this county.
