This document is a copy of United States patent number 432, 556 issued 22 Jul 1890 to Walter Jehiel Pratt of Lowville, New York, for an improvement to fire escapes. His design included an attached basket on a pully system that could be used to carry persons who could not use a ladder or to transport goods from the upper story.
